Dice games have been in demand since medieval Egypt (anthropologists have discovered a dice that have been made during the six hundred B.C. in Egypt.
Some historians say that the Roman Empire should get the credit for spreading craps or dice games as a whole because of the Roman soldiers who conquered different lands and played dice games to pass the time. But majority of gaming historians attributed craps to a game called Hazards, which came from the Arabic word azahr or dice.
It was introduced in European circles from the Arab World by Englishman Sir William of Tyre and his knights during the crusades. It was then played in the British Isles in the twelve century A.D. The Frenchmen renamed Hazards "crabs" (or what players call a losing toss of two in Hazards). The game was again renamed as "craps" when it starts becoming popular in the United States. French immigrants in the south of the United States played Hazards regularly and it became a big hit among African-American in the early part of the nineteenth century.
The game was also introduced in the gaming river boats on the Mississippi river. John Winn further modified the game so that players could wager with shooter or against the crapshooter. This also removed the advantage of using a crooked dice which was a rampant problem back then. Craps is the largest wagering game all over the world by bets and its online counterpart is also one of the most known games on the Internet. It is safe to say that craps will be around for a long time.
Players of craps especially those that are playing in a live casino setting should always remember their manners. Like they should not put their hands in the table especially if the shooter is on a great roll. You do not want the whole table to hate you.
